To kick off the second week of Summer Day Camp Peaceful Prairie Nursery, Inc., from Mitchell, NE came to visit Morrill’s Tri-Community Preschool & Pride Cub Care. The nursery was on location to assist the Preschool and Toddler classrooms with planting their own gardens at the center. Miles and Janice Leml, from Peaceful Prairie Nursery, Inc., were able to get all the children involved by telling them all about the plants they were going to be planting. They even let them sneak a taste of some herbs! The Leml’s also encouraged and guided the classrooms as they took part in the planting process. The children planted an assortment of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. They are so excited to care for their new garden areas, watch the plants grow and then harvest the vegetables for healthy and delicious snacks. Morrill Tri-Community and Pride Cub Care are taking part in the Step Up To Quality program for Nebraska child care providers and are partnering with Go NAP SACC to continue building our programs healthy food program. These programs provide guidance on nutrition and physical activity among various other topics to ensure best practices for all children in Early Childhood.
